A Letter of Recommendation from United States Steel Corporation
To whom it may concern,
I am currently using the NuBricity™ product on our in-line Quench process. Specifically, I am using it on the Inner Diameter (ID) Lance Clamp Assembly. The in-line Quench process is essentially a pipe cooling that is in line with our Hot End production process. The system is designed to take pipe at a temperature of 1670 degrees Fahrenheit down to 200 degrees Fahrenheit or less as it travels down a conveyor. This is done by "drowning" the outer diameter (OD) of the pipe with 24,000 gallons of water per minute. When this is not enough, we use an ID Lance that goes through the center of the pipe and cools it from ID as it is being cooled from the OD. The Lance Clamp assembly clamps onto the back of the ID Lance and delivers water to the ID Lance.
With the Lance Clamp assembly being exposed to 24,000 gpm of water, we have had to utilize a special grease that had a high wash-out factor. We were using Fuchs Uniwirl grease (Red grease) on the Lance Clamp assembly, which worked well, but we still had some problems with the Lance Clamp assembly getting stuck occasionally. We have recently switched over to using NuBricity™ in this area and have had no problems with our assembly sticking at all.
Currently, NuBricity™ has become a main component of our strategy to bring technology to our maintenance organization. Within my organization, technology is needed in order to "do more with less." I am planning to utilize NuBricity™ on various areas within my manufacturing process as one step in expediting this strategy. I have new grease systems that are being designed for the Finishing End facility and will be installed during our next outage at the end of this year. NuBricity™ has been specified for use with these new systems. As long as NuBricity™ continues to perform for us like it has on our Quench process, its use will continue to grow within our facility.

The product works great! We are using as an additive in the coolant of one of our small VTC machines, milling a high nickel alloy with small cutters (1/8” and smaller). The additive has increased tool life by 400% on this one job!
